Remote appearance is available for most hearings in Civil, Family, Juvenile, Probate, Traffic, and Criminal cases. Please use the below registration links depending on case type. Local Rule 2024 - 2.21 Remote Appearances

Civil Remote Appearances

To register for a civil remote appearance online, please use the below link.
Register with the name of the person who will actually appear remotely. Should it be necessary to substitute this person, it is mandatory to contact the remote appearance coordinator before 4 P.M. the day prior to the appearance for approval.
Please Note: Only named approved person will be admitted.

Once registered, a member of the court's remote services team will contact you for the following things: 1. Collect $25 Payment, if applicable. 2. Provide the Microsoft Teams remote appearance link. 3. Schedule a test to confirm connectivity, if needed. **Late registration fee of $25 will be imposed, in addition to the normal registration fee, for untimely registrations ($25 remote fee + $25 late fee = $50)**(PLEASE REFER TO THE LOCAL RULE 2.21 Remote Appearances) To register by phone, or if you experience problems with online registration, please call 760-482-2273

Traffic and Criminal Remote Appearances

Please use the below link to submit a request to appear remotely in either traffic or criminal cases. Once your request is submitted, the court will review the request and contact you to provide the Microsoft Teams remote appearance link and schedule a test before the hearing date. For all remote appearances, requests must be submitted no less than three court days before the hearing. If your request is submitted with less than three court days notice, your request may be denied. In all remote appearance requests, if you do not receive a reply in writing from the court before your hearing date, then you must appear in person. Per Executive Order RE: Implementation of AB 199 filed 7/7/2022.

The Imperial Superior Court utilizes Microsoft Teams for remote appearances. This is a free download to the public. Please download the app ahead of time on the device you will be using to appear remotely.

What is the cost for a remote appearance?

The Court’s remote appearance fees, as required by Government Code Section 70630 and California Rules of Court, rule 3.672, will be $25.00 (plus credit card transaction fees). There are no remote appearances fees for criminal, traffic, juvenile, restraining orders, any party with a fee waiver, or where remote appearance fee is not allowed by statue. Effective March 1, 2023, a late registration fee of $25 will be imposed, in addition to the normal registration fee, for untimely registrations ($25 remote fee + $25 late fee = $50). No refunds will be given to cancellations with less than two days’ notice or for those who fail to appear for their hearing. A $5.00 fee will be charged for any refund or cancellations requests.

What video conference system does the Court use?

The court utilizes Microsoft Team's for remote appearances. This is a free application available for Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android. Please download the app in advance of your hearing.

What is the recommended device for remote appearances?

The Court recommends you use a laptop or tablet, along with headphones, with the Team's app downloaded. This will provide the best experience for the hearing.

Can I request a remote appearance if I live in the Imperial County?

Yes, Remote Appearance is available for all Parties regardless of their place of residency.
